Lineage: Maurice Passman and The Rose Li School
The Rose Li School has its lineage from Teng Yun Feng, one of the greatest boxers China has produced. Teng taught at the Temple of the Fire God in 1930's Beijing and was the tutor of Rose Li (Li Shao Chiang). The School's lineage has been described in a number of publications by Robert W Smith. The lineage for Tai Chi, Ba Gua and Xing Yi are shown below.
The purity and excellence of this lineage makes the School unique. The School prides itself on the exceptional quality and level of tuition provided. The Nei Jia the School teaches is real: it is authentic, pure and genuine. The principles and practices of the School are very different from the majority of other martial art schools. The cardinal point differentiating the School from most others is the insistence on authenticity and training of the Schools historical methods. Students learn today in the selfsame manner as those students a century ago. This does not mean that the Schools methods are stale or old-fashioned rather the School universally rejects the rules and modifications of principle that would change the key ethos and tenets of the system. A considerable proportion of new students have therefore to undertake a major paradigm shift in the way they see and understand martial arts – new students simply do not know or realise what the system entails nor do they initially comprehend its simplicity and sophistication. Maurice Passman, the principal instructor of the Rose Li School, was taught by Rose Li. He was honoured by being formally adopted into her martial arts family (Wu Shu Jia) in 1999 and obligated by Miss Li to undertake sole responsibility for teaching all aspects of Nei Jia after her death. He remained her most trusted and close student until her passing away in 2001. Rose Li therefore gave Maurice Passman her greatest gift, one beyond money, and one that continues to give: knowledge and understanding. The School continues to uphold the historical teaching traditions and heritage of this lineage. © Copyright. All textual and graphical content on this web site is copyright to the Rose Li School.
